508 Subject Matter Expert
Visual Connections, LLC is seeking a 508 Subject Matter Expert. The 508 Subject Matter Expert will be to conduct 508 compliance check for program document deliverables on PDFs, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and establish communication and monitor implementation of corrective actions with program findings.

Roles and Responsibilities
Knowledge and understanding of Section 508 guidelines, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1, W3C standards, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Ability to write alternative text for simple images as needed.
Conduct 508 compliance check for program document deliverables on PDFs, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Establish communication and monitor implementation of corrective actions with program findings.
Suggest necessary support procedures and training documentation.
Required Skills
Minimum 2 years of experience in 508 Technical Testing with collaborative applications and learning platforms, including open source, cloud technologies utilizing agile development methodologies
Minimum 2 years of experience in automated and manual 508 technical testing tools specifically JAWS, Dragon Naturally Speaking and ZoomText
Minimum 2 years of experience with Rational Collaborative Lifecycle Management (CLM)
Minimum 2 years of experience with Enterprise Lifecycle (ELC) Methodologies
Knowledge and proven experience performing 508 technical testing in IRS environment
Extensive knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0) at A and AA levels
Must possess Active Moderate Risk Background Investigation (MBI) with the IRS
Thorough working knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, policies, regulations and standards (Americans with Disabilities Act Amendment and Section 504)
Use software tools to identify errors in document structure, headings, reading order, images, charts and tables, and any other document errors. Able to remediate any document accessibility non-compliances, including Adobe PDF, MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel,)
Working knowledge of HTML preferred
Strong written and oral communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and alone
Excellent problem solving skills and ability to prioritize tasks
At least 2 years of experience remediating website content for accessibility for Section 508 and WCAG 2.0 compliance
Experience/Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in related field or 3-5 years equivalent experience
